The curatorial conception of the Let Us be Us exhibition seeks to echo with the life situation of individuals inhabiting localities tormented by oppressive social and economic problems. It tries to note the feelings, which often accompany this traumatizing condition, but it especially concentrates on providing a relieving reaction that can contribute to positive perception of the world around us. In this case, these shifts are catalyzed by means of hyperbole, ironic distance, but above all, humour – or, if you like – fun.
Unlike the previous projects realized here within the LoHR, the exhibition in the Emil Filla Gallery is not trying to contribute to solving thorny issues, or to analyze them in detail. Being aware of hardly realizable systemic measures, it at least refers and relates to possibilities of "a moment of ecstasy" of mere "living on" of most inhabitants of this region. The exhibition concept tries to provoke their reactions or participation, or any gesture. Works selected for this exhibition include the ambivalence of the burdensome way out and a final positive or even humorous impression.
